So, I’ve been quiet for quite some time. There were many reasons for that. Finished my degree finally, new job role and took a 2+ week vacation. I never did take the Harley on the road trip and instead took my jeep and had a great time. That isn’t to say I won’t be taking one soon. I have also been doing a lot of research on urban sustainable living and have decided that I want to focus the majority of my energies into such matters. That doesn’t mean that I will stop being passionate for motorcycles as I feel it is still the best mode of travel overall. I just will be doing less general talk about them for now and more about sustainable urban living. Feel free to follow my trials and tribulations. I should be posting much more frequently now….

Well I have been super swamped with night school and work so I haven’t been preparing for my trip or posting much for that matter. Now that I have managed to free up some more time and prioritize better, I will be getting back on track with the postings. This weekend I logged about 175 miles touring Windham County Connecticut and northwestern Rhode Island. The views of the backwoods and farmland where great and the lil’ mill towns for all of you antique shop lovers were good as well. The roads themselves were in average condition with plenty of sand still on the more rural sections. I’ll see if I can map it out for everyone in case you want to try the route. It’s definitely worth the tour.
In other news I made some purchases in anticipation of the road trip. Like a fool I sold all my sissy bars and side plates a few years back when I was customizing my bike. Now I am buying it all back so I can have somewhere to mount all my luggage for the trip. Don’t get me wrong I am still a fan of the strip down look and a minimalist at heart but, luggage is a necessity for where I am going.

What would life be without goal setting? We all do it. Whether it’s sub-conscious or not. I have been reading a lot about traveling via motorcycle and to be honest I have caught the bug. Every waking moment is consumed lately mentally by my internal struggle about whether or not I should just drop everything and go tour the world via motorcycle. I am young enough and certainly fit enough to do so and lets face it, everyone could always use more money than they have currently so that can’t be used as a valid excuse to not travel the world. I’ve worked so hard over my lifetime so far to amass things. I won’t lie. I enjoy a lot of my things I have amassed. But I haven’t enjoyed what types of work I’ve had to do to amass them. You reach a point in your life when your priorities often abruptly change. This happens to virtually everyone at one time or another. Mine, have recently i.e. 6 mo to 1 yr changed. Some I feel for the better and some for the worst. Bottom line is it all can end at anytime. So if you aren’t doing what you enjoy during this time then you are missing out on the only thing that really matters…. your life!!!!! Go out and live your life, no one is going to live it for you. Don’t wait for retirement because it may not come until you are 6 ft under…..

I recently was out for a ride on my Harley as I often do when I decided to take a blast to the bookstore. I had to pick up a few titles for a night class I am finishing up and decided I might as well get this mundane chore of the bookstore out of the way. Well as luck would have it I just happened to be in the Entrepreneurial/Self help section when I stumbled upon, “Why now is the time to Crush It” by Gary Vaynerchuk. Now I am a pretty avid reader of blogs that relate to travel, specifically via motorcycle and also passive income generation/ social marketing. So I had heard a rumbling about this book before but just added it in my mental, “to do list”. I decided to pick it up none the less and let me tell you it was the best thing I ever did. This book is an ultra fast read and chock full of everything you need to know to get successful. Plan and simple. This guy is a no nonsense kinda guy. Albeit he seems to be a bit of a pain in the ass but if you are making the kind of money like he is you can afford to be a bit shall we say? Cocky…. I won’t steal the books thunder, just know that it is exactly what you need if you want to stop dreaming and start doing. Go buy it. ” I’m not getting any kickbacks for promoting his book on my blog either” I just like to spread the word when I see something. Good or Bad. This happens to be an excellent book.
